Why Did You Want to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Terrell grew up surrounded by dentistry, with her father practicing dentistry right in this office. She knew from a young age that she wanted to follow in her dad’s footsteps and give patients the same quality dental care they had come to expect from their practice. During her time in undergrad, Dr. Terrell gained as much experience with dentistry as she could, working as a dental assistant both at Dr. Carmen’s office and as a volunteer in a non-profit clinic in Oklahoma City. Working as a dental assistant only solidified Dr. Terrell’s love of providing high quality care to her patients and made her more excited to begin seeing her own patients as a dentist!
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Terrell earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery, graduating Cum Laude from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. During her time at the College of Dentistry, she gained experience in periodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, comprehensive care, as well some more advanced dental care, including aesthetic dentistry. Dr. Terrell received recognition for her clinical knowledge and skills as well as her leadership abilities during her time at the University of Oklahoma, including receiving the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry’s Division of Endodontics Senior Student Award, the American Student Dental Association’s Award of Excellence, and the Academy of General Dentistry’s Future Leader in General Dentistry Award.
Dr. Terrell is passionate about advocating for her patients’ health and wellbeing, both within the dental office and beyond. She serves in the Oklahoma Dental Association as the New Dentist Action Team Leader, where she advocates both for state and national legislation change to support dental insurance reform as well as other legislative efforts to ensure patients are protected and get the most out of their dental care. Along with these efforts, Dr. Terrell wrote an article in 2024 which was published in the Oklahoma Dental Association’s quarterly journal titled, “MyHealth: How Patient Privacy Applies to Oklahoma’s New Health Information Exchange System”.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Terrell met her husband, Kolby, during her undergraduate time at the University of Oklahoma and they got married while she was in dental school. Kolby is currently in law school at the University of Oklahoma and will graduate in 2028! When they get a break from work and school, they love to spend time with their miniature schnauzer, Gouda. Dr. Terrell has two younger brothers, Brooks and Reece, and a younger brother-in-law, Brayden. Brooks is finishing up his time serving in the Marine Corp and Recce is also attending the University of Oklahoma College of Law with her husband Kolby. Brayden will be graduating from high school in Texas in 2028, and we are hoping he will join his brother and sister-in-law in Norman for college!
Dr. Terrell loves to spend her free time with her loved ones, going on walks, surfing, knitting and crocheting, baking, cheering on the Sooners and the Thunder, traveling with friends and family, and going to see musicals, plays, and other live shows.
