Because you\u2019re worried about the whole COVID-19 pandemic, you decide\nto take your temperature and discover that you have a high fever. Now you\u2019re panicking\nthat you might have the dreaded coronavirus. However, that might not actually\nbe the case. A high fever is actually a symptom of an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.drbobbycarmen.com\/emergency-dentistry.html\">oral infection<\/a>.\nKeep reading to learn the other signs that you might have a dental emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Signs of an Infection in the Mouth <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t ignore the following symptoms, as they may point to a\ndental infection. Call your dentist if you notice:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Persistent bad breath <\/li><li>Chronic bitter taste in the mouth <\/li><li>High fever <\/li><li>Oral pain <\/li><li>Tooth sensitivity to hot and cold foods and drinks\n<\/li><li>Swelling of the gums, glands in the neck, or the\njaw <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>While a high fever is also one of the most prominent\nsymptoms of COVID-19, you may not necessarily have the disease. It might be a\ndental emergency instead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Should You Do About It?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If your high fever is accompanied by any of the symptoms\nlisted above, you should contact your dentist right away. Due to the\ncoronavirus pandemic, most dental practices are postponing all non-emergency\nprocedures until further notice. Oral infections definitely count as a dental\nemergency. Because of this, you should contact their office as soon as you can\nfor treatment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Prevent Oral Infections <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The easiest way to keep oral infections at bay is to\npractice excellent oral hygiene, which involves taking the following actions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Brush your teeth twice a day with a fluoridated\ntoothpaste and an ultra-soft toothbrush.<\/li><li>Floss at least once daily (ideally after every\nmeal and snack). <\/li><li>If you smoke or chew tobacco, consider quitting.\n<\/li><li>Limit the amount of times a day you consume\nsugary snacks or beverages. <\/li><li>Contact your dentist if you notice any of the\nsymptoms described above. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Just because you have a fever doesn\u2019t necessarily mean you\nhave the coronavirus. It could instead be a dental emergency.
